Datca

Datca district of Mugla and you can reached by land and by ferry. You can go to via flight from Istanbul to Bodrum from Bodrum you can take a ferry which works 2 times (09:00 and 17:00) a day and it takes 2 hours to Datca. Ferry departure can change according to season it is better to check. After reached to Datca a ferry service takes all passengers to center of Datca. Other way to come Datca via highway but the way has quite bends and dangerous. Maybe that’s why less people preferred to come here, this place is restful. Datca’s history is based on very old B.C s 2000. Here the first known residents are Caria’s community. Then comes rising days of Dor’s period. At the Dor’s time, buildt a city near to Datca center the name is Knidos. Even today the ruins of a city, have been very large and advanced. This place is beatiful as Geographical and aesthetic image. You meet with a port at the entrance of the Knidos, then comes an internal port and internal port is opens to the open sea again. Obviously this port was very important to protect this city. To go Knidos you can get the boat from Datca, which is sailing everyday from harbor. It takes approximately 2 hours to go. Journey is a bit wavy, but on the road you will see beatiful landscapes and when you see the Knidos you will forget travel difficulties.
It is possible to go everyday a different beach in Datca. I will try
to write here some of them. In side of Datca there is a Taslik beach. It
is next to the harbor, this beach has a natural spring water which
became a small lake and this water is leaking into the sea here. Other
beach is Kargi bay it is 3-4 km distance to the center of Datca you can
find minibus to go there. Here you can eat something and you can lie
down on grass, swim together with goose it is a beautiful beach. Other
opsion is if you have car or you can find minibuse again to go Mesudiye
village which is 20 km distance to Datca, here are Ova bay and Hayit Bay
sparklingly beaches, again you can eat something here, if you wish you
can accomodite. Here is no bar or entertainment venue in the evening,
you chat, read books it is silence place for vacation. Palamutbuku beach
is 25 km to Datca this place is well known place. There are also places
you can eat here too.
A bit out side of new Datca there is also old Datca. This place surely must be in your list to see. There are old stone houses and narrow streets, old houses decorated with vivid colored begonvils. At the entrance of the houses a lot of souvenir shops. You can sit to old Datca coffehouse and chat with local people while you drink your fruit tea. You can also visit famous Turkish poet Can Yucel museum house here. Datca is very restful please in general. In the evening you can have fish or other meals from Turkish kitchen in very cute center of Datca. On the beach side there are affordable places to eat fish. You can watch sunset at the sea side coffes while you drink Turkish coffe or a cold bear. In the meantime, you don’t understand how time passed here. One of the most famous thing in Datca almond and the other is soap. Datca almond is really tasty and very cheap if you compared the price with Istanbul. Special production soaps smells very nice and look so beautiful. Datca, is a holiday place who doesn’t like much noise, but would like to see natural things.
